4 cups raw almond milk; can make your own see below or you can buy regular almond milk or coconut milk
2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice and a dab of orangezest for extra limonene, super anticancer nutrition
2 medium frozen bananas
1 to 2 handfuls ice cubes
This is the raw version. But do not fret, below are ideas on how to make this smoothie other ways.
Place the almond milk, orange juice, and bananas into a high-powered blender, and blend for about 60 seconds or until smooth. Add ice cubes if desired and blend again. Drink immediately or pour into popsicle molds and freeze.
If you want to play some more with this recipe you can;
1. add some stevia or honey if you like more sweetness
2. also a dab of vanilla or cinnamon.
3. On hot days like today some coconut water would be desireable too since it is a wonderful natural well balanced electrolyte.
4. Other options are to add some protein powder but then it is no longer raw, which is not bad, just different.
If you don’t want to use raw almond milk or have a nut allergy then use any milk of your choice, such as coconut, hemp milk or rice milk.. Note that this recipe makes a large batch so if you are less than a family, and not that thirsty scale back. Leftovers can also be poured into popsicle molds for a frosty yummy treat later on.
Recipe for raw almond milk if you need one…..
soak a big bowl of truly raw organic almonds overnight. Place the almonds and water into a high-powered blender.
Add a pinch of sea salt and a dash of maple syrup.
Blend, adding more water if needed, and then strain though cheese cloth or a nut milk bag.
I like to eat the leftover pulp or I will stick it into a dehydrated crackers or cookies or even place some in the smoothie for extra fiber.
