Doctor Your Pesto into a Super Food

With basil coming into its prime right now in my garden, my mind and my taste buds always start to think and salivate about delicious yummy pesto.

Here are a few tips on how you can turn your regular pesto into a super food;

1. add pureed broccoli florets and receive the benefits of broccoli’s indole 3 carbinol’s anticancer power

2. use walnuts instead of pine nuts for added omega 3 fatty acids and get a more anti-inflammatory, heart healthy pesto

3. use extra garlic which is a super antimicrobial and it contains selenium which is a fabulous antioxidant

4. add in some lemon rind for its great zesty flavor and powerful anticancer component limonene
