For those of us who love to lick on popsicles on warm summer days but want to avoid the unhealthy dyes, additives and high sugar or even worse, corn syrup of the store-bought varieties, try these make your own fabulous and healthy recipes. All you need is an ice-cube tray or dixie cups, some craft sticks and then you can choose your flavorings:
1. watermelon lime cilantro: 3 cups of watermelon, 1 tsp fresh lime juice, 1-2 tsp fresh cilantro. Blend then freeze
2. banana nut butter crunch; 3 medium bananas, 5 tbsp of nut butter (peanut, almond, cashew) Blend, may then add whole fresh nuts, walnuts or any nut of your choice for a crunch, may also add chocolate chips too-yum-then freeze.
3. mango avocado: 3 cups of cubed mango, 3/4 ripe avocado, 3 tbsp fresh lime plus zest, can use orange or lemon zest too, blend, chill
sweeteners are optional : can add local organic honey, stevia, maple syrup, agave or other sweeteners of your choice.
